The Erasmus Huis, Dutch Cultural Centre in Jakarta, Indonesia

Library

The Erasmus Huis includes a large library with an extensive collection of around 20.000 titles, newspapers and magazines from both countries. Except for Dutch literature and lecture, you will find interesting books about the history of Indonesia and about Dutch and Indonesian art and culture.

The library also consists of an elaborate music-collection of around 950 CD's. For example Jazz is very well represented in the music-collection. You'll be able to find CD's from the ensembles of Paul van Kemenade, Piet Noorddijk, Maarten Ornstein and Maarten van der Grinten, but also from singers like Fay Claassen, Caroline de Rooy and Rita Reys. Except for Jazz, the music library offers choral music, music for violin and piano and also piano-solo music, all in abundance. The CD's of the Combattimento Consort Ensemble and the Florilegium Ensemble contain Old Music (from the Middle-ages until Mozart and his contemporaries). For this genre you can also look for the following composers: Bach, Händel, Vivaldi, De Fesch. Or the names of the performing artists: Brüggen and Koopman.

To put it briefly: Glance through the catalogue and discover a world of music! As member of the library, you can borrow the CD's for a deposit of Rp. 50.000,- per CD or it is also possible to listen to them in the library. Please ask the librarian for assistance if you are unable to trace a certain album.

In the library one can consult the internet, watch videos and dvd's with general information on the Netherlands, explore CD-ROM's and listen to music CD's from our large music collection.

The juridical library

The Legal Library consists of 2500 titles in the field of legal and fiscal matters is lodged in a separate part of the library where they can be consulted and copied. Aside of that there are Dutch (specialized) magazines, and there are CD-Roms that can be consulted containing actual informations regarding legal proceedings and jurisprudence. There is also a collection of European and International law. The purpose of the Legal Library is to assist Indonesian jurors and law students in their work. After all, many concepts, provisions and entire laws still carry the stamp of their Dutch past history.
